01:22 pm - Tell me why you lied, and what it is you do to keep your eyes all shiny
I'm so absurdly happy with life right now. It's like the world's been bathed in a gold light and everything is beautiful and serene.
I wish I better understood the rules of apostrophies. Oh well.
The reason I'm in such a blissful state, I think, has very much to do with getting to see The Decemberists in concert on Tuesday. There are just no words for how ridiculously wonderful that was. I was scared that Erin wouldn't get to go, but she did, and she's not going back to jail, and she's going to have one serious life-story one day.
One day we will have a button-maker, too.

So, at concert, I got '5 Songs' and 'A Practical Handbook', and Erin bought me a nifty nifty bag and a shirt that we've got joint ownership of. I feel very materialistic, but I really love this band, and the first two items are a CD and DVD respectively, so whatever.

Ooh, I also finally found Swing Kids, thanks to Erin, and it's one of the most horrifically depressing movies I've ever seen. Naturally, I adore it.
Also thanks to Erin, I've got Happy Feet! Ah, dancing penguins.

1:40 is a good time for breakfast, so I'm going to go and do that now.

07:12 pm - Happy Pi Day!
The math department at the Academy had a Pi Day celebration/festival dealie, through which I learned that I'm not bad at throwing darts. Because of this I obtained a teensy pack of Uno cards, a thing of jacks (jax?), a kalidoscope thing, and candy. Woot. All it all, a good way to spend (part of) Pi Day. :-D

Aside from that, though, today kind of sucked. Arrg people.

Lastly, happy (alleged) birthday, Einstein!

10:41 pm - Check yo'self fo' you wreak yo'self
There are good things in life, which can severely limit ones ability to mope.

Tuesday's House was magnificent and intense, though the news following it pretty much spoiled the mood (Tommy-related, thus massively depressing).
Good things that didn't get cancelled out include The Decemberists on Conan O'Brian, wonderful cookies, egg rolls, and finding out that my soon-to-be job is probably going to be lots of fun and incredibly lucrative.

On top of all that, Maddy called and told me 4 totally awesome, freakishly bizarre stories.
It's been a good weekend.

11:25 pm - Unbelievable
I'm in a play! Not only that, but it's my first choice play, and I'm a main character!
This is a huge deal for me (even if it doesn't actually mean anything). Now all I have to do is not horribly botch my first decent role in anything ever, and it'll be good. =D
On the subject of good, Emily called from Atlanta to congratulate me. On the scale of Really Great Things My Friends Do That Come As Complete Surprises, is ranked just under Jessie bringing me back shells from the Florida trip in 5th grade. It's a very, very close race, really.

Now to finish that terribly important essay of unyielding tedium. Hoo-rah.

09:45 pm - *IS NOT DEAD* =D
Man, it's been a long time since I've updated this thing. I'd so be charged with internet neglect, if there were such an offense.

5 minute synopsis of 2007:
-New family-ish people introduced by The Cousins. Strange, but nice.
-SHAKESPEARE EN PROMENADE! The Sisters and I went to Charlotte, stayed with Aunt Rhonda, and saw A Winter's Tale and Pericles, neither of which any of us had hear of previously.
-Quilters is performed, and done marvellously.
-Going to the doctor happens, and the news is good! My spine is not supposed to get any worse, which is happy times.
-Pan's Labyrinth with Erin and Emily. I like foreign films and subtitles.
-Kelly moves out yet again, and breaks up with Mike about 50 times. I am annoyed by her repetitiveness.

And that's the end of five minutes. I think that also covers most of the important things thus far, but I'm very likely mistaken.
Either way, I'm done for tonight.
Whee.

02:32 am - Get me away from here, I'm dying.
I'd like Belle & Sebastian quite a bit if it weren't for the singer. He's got a good voice, I just hate the way he speaks.

I feel miserable, which is pretty not cool because it's two days into break and I'd rather not spend my time so sick I can't even sleep, thanks.
For some reason, though, this bout of unpleasantness prompted me to be very productive, and my room has been mostly cleaned and vaccumed. It'd be nice if I could get things done without feeling like crap.

Arrrg.

On a side note, January 9th is too far away.

I think I'm going to lay in the floor and stare at the ceiling for a while, until my head decides that movement is not worthy of torture.
Gah.

03:50 am - Apologies, everything I've watched over the past few days, and Charlie Brown
So... I owe someone an apology.
Livejournal is the exact opposite of the best way to do that, but it's a start.

...That was a start. The rest is to be dealt with tomorrow in person (probably). I need to stop periodically trying to wreck everything.

Anyway, I watched Stuart Little 2 today, and it was moderately cute. Or, I was terribly deluded as to the quality of the movie by the fact that both Hugh Laurie and Nathan Lane are in it. Really, my sarcasm didn't stand a chance.
Erin and I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off recently, too, and I'd forgotten exactly how amazing that movie is. Matthew Broderick may just be the most adorable person ever.
After that, The Boondock Saints with Jessie. A very good movie, and one she'd been trying to get me to watch for years.

I don't know why I'm recapping everything I've watched recently. It's weird.

Eventually, I intend on rambling about the Charlie Brown Christmas things, because there is something horrifically wrong with those. They are SO DARK. Charlie Brown's life sucks.
Actually, it made me think of Wilson (because I have a House addiction) because everything sucks for both of them, and they both just... take it.

Heh, Charlie Brown's Christmas show thing (the play the kids were putting on in the show) did make Dad start quoting The Boondocks, and that is always funny.

Linus's Bible fixation is a bit worrisome. He needs a new hobby. All he ever seems to do is quote passages from or read the book. Besides, with his massive and unrelenting faith type thing, he shouldn't need a security blanket.

Again, I don't know.

November 25th, 2006

07:20 am - 2 AM must be update time.
Thanksgiving was weird this year, mainly in that it was both pleasant and spent with family. One or the other isn't unusual, but both simultaneously is unheard of, mainly due to two of my dear cousins and their innate ability to always ruin everything, ever, by being horrifically unpleasant.
Yeah, they were elsewhere this year, and the much cooler cousins we never see showed up, along with estranged aunts and uncles, the Bionic Granny, and some strange man none of us children had ever seen before, but whom we speculated was some form of psychotic killer. He reminded me of John Shooter from Secret Window, but that could be because I watched it recently.

He scorned us (my sisters and I, possibly the Cousins as well) for our 'Yankee Talk.'

On the way home from Grandma's (where we spent less than 24 hours) we passed a car going the wrong way down the interstate/bypass whatever. It was weird. Dangerous, too, I'm sure, but they seemed to be doing alright.

It's late.

[info]jolfolfille tagged me, so, yeah.

List five songs that you currently love. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the songs in your blog. Then tag five other Livejournal friends to see what they're listening to.

1) The Crane Wife - The Decemberists (CD)
2) Goody Two Shoes - Adam Ant (I think)
3) Putnam soundtrack
4) Avenue Q soundtrack
5) When The Pawn - Fiona Apple (CD)

Posting this blank was utterly brilliant of me. -_-;

11:25 pm - You're a good singer!
I just realised, I never said anything about Putnam.
Basically, the trip ranged from annoying to happy, and the show itself was superb. We had what may have been the worst seats ever, but from them, we got to see how good the dancing really was (very, very good).
We DID listen to The Decemberists, too; but also the Putnam soundtrack, Franz Ferdinand, and Rooney. All three have proven themselves as worthy listening material, so I've got no complaints.

Erin FTW.

I think at this point there are only 10 days left until House comes back =D I've missed it dearly.

I have a ton of work to do, very little time to do it in, and I'm procrastinating. Brilliant.

11:14 pm - Icons! =D
I made lame things!

Icons! )

You would not believe the struggle I had trying to make those. The computer did NOT want them to be (except for Leo's thumbs up; that one it was fine with.). There would be more, but those were battles I did not win. Alas.

Tomorrow is The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! Hopefully the trips to and from NC will not incite anyone to murder or anything equally unpleasant. Hopefully.
ERIN CAN WE LISTEN TO LOTS OF THE DECEMBERISTS PLEASE?!

According to lj, which thinks it is the 11th, there are only 4 days until my birthday.

Oddly, I feel much less grown-up than I did this time last year.

Also, Emily is runner-up for being the Greatest Person Ever. Srsly. Em, you have NO IDEA. NONE.
People keep giving me really amazing things and I keep failing at paying them back in any way, shape, or form.

09:24 pm - YAWP!
There are absolutely no words to describe how incredibly wonderful The Producers was.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was unprepared for it to have been as great as it was. Especially Leo. He was AWESOME, and he really was a great singer.
Max was kind of tall, Ulla kind of short (but she completely changed my opinion of the character, which is a great accomplishment), and Franz was kind of chubby and short. Max had a goatee ^_^

...those descriptions were kind of pointless. Anyway, yeah. It made my life, and Erin is the GREATEST SISTER EVER.

Srsly, Ba, you winx476857647689558967857685 and then some.

The Adventures of Seeing The Producers (kinda long) )

I want to watch Dead Poets Society again. Maybe someday.
I bought both of the Stuart Little movies the other day, and I feel both very happy and very geeky about this.

School has completely eaten my life, but that's actually okay. If I'm slack on commenting/responding to comments, it's probably because as of late, I've had no time for internetting and having any sort of life ^^;

Speaking of, I must read Chaucer, then sleep.

03:22 am - A questionnaire and brief mention of some things British
A questionnaire! You should fill it out. )

Today, I went to the mall with Jessica W. and Jeannette, and did nothing but lurk about the arcade. DDR happened, we shot dinosaurs, played Percussion Master, and had an amazingly repetitive game of air hockey.
After that, I came home to watch Jeeves & Wooster and Blackadder with my dad, which was wonderful.
Hugh Laurie's face is absolutely amazing. Bertie Wooster and the Prince are similar characters (upperclass idiots), and the change from them to House is incredible.
There are more important things I could be doing at almost 4 AM than musing over the many wonders of British actors and comedy. Like sleep. Or cleaning. Or working on an ingenious way to somehow incorporate the two. I wish I could clean in my sleep. That'd be neat.

I thought I'd share this with those who care (and have been watching House)

My dad's genius theory )

I watched Dead Poets Society with Erin yesterday! Oh, so much awesome! Except for one part...
tsk, full of spoilers today )

So much love for Neil, though; and John Keating. RLS and Robin Williams win at life. Is RSL ever not-adorable?

Anyway, with that purchase, I'm pretty much broke. I think I have $8 cash at the moment, but there's money in the bank, so all is well, for now. I need a job, though. Arrgh.

I think I'm going to go watch that movie again, and wait for it to be Tuesday.

10:44 pm - This show will be the death of me
This is decidedly the season of Utterly Ridiculous Close-Ups. I mean, my God.

I love Chase even more now, and Cameron seemed to suck a lot less in this'n. Go Cameron!

I think I am liking this season.

Wilson is so God. Really. And he'd look really funny running.

Things are building up to something tremendous.
